Advantages and disadvantages of gravity casting molds

We all know that a mold is a tool used to make molded items. This tool is composed of different parts, and different molds are composed of different parts. Molds are indispensable in industrial production. It mainly changes the physical properties of the material being molded. state to realize the processing of the shape of the object. So, what are the advantages and disadvantages of gravity casting molds?

First of all, when the gravity casting mold is cast, the metal hydraulic pressure is high, the flow rate is fast, the product quality is good, the size is stable, and the interchangeability is good. Compared with die casting, the mold life is longer, the mold cost is low, and the process is relatively simple.

Crystals are not easy to form after solidification and molding, and if they are discharged into the cavity, they are lighter in weight.

In addition, its material is also very uniform: the heat treatment process is excellent, and when the thickness (diameter) is below 300 degrees Celsius, the strength and hardness of the product are basically the same;

High surface precision, reducing material waste

Good processing performance: minimize the deviation of chemical composition, strength and hardness, and eliminate the phenomenon of "sticking" and "cracking" during processing;

High-speed processing, almost no deformation: perfect pre-stretching (T651) process, completely eliminating internal stress, not easy to warp, crack, deform, and stress during processing;

Good material density: Unique grain refining process ensures no blisters, horizontal lines, bubbles and impurities;

High temperature resistance: no permanent deformation will occur under the working environment of 400 degrees Celsius;

Second, it has the following disadvantages:

(1) The density of this product is low. Relying on liquid self-weight molding, the compactness of low-pressure casting machine products is lower than that of die-casting machine products, the strength is slightly worse, but the elongation is higher.

(2) The surface finish of the product is not high. After the surface of the casting cools and shrinks, it is easy to form pits similar to shot peening.

(3) There are few pores inside the casting, and the front of the product after heat treatment can be greatly improved, even surpassing that of die-casting products.

(4) The filling speed is slow and the production efficiency is low.

Reasonable use of the advantages and disadvantages of gravity casting molds can not only ensure production quality, but also greatly improve production capacity!
